How to Convince Your Soul it was Worth the Trip

How to Convince Your Soul it was Worth the Trip

Even though we've just hit Spring the evenings and mornings are still very chilly (even for Brisbane!). I love to offer this up as an after dinner "sweety" for my family of sweeties ie my husband Desi and niece, Ruby.

If ever you need to convince your soul that entering into this earthly plane for a human experience was totally worth it, DESPITE the current turdburger cluster-funk floating around the planet at present, then this recipe for hot chocolate should do the trick.

Preparing the recipe over the stove is almost as lovely an experience as drinking it. The fragrant aromas cause my nostrils to twitch with anticipation.

I also love pouring it into my most fanciest of cups and saucers. As it adds to the whole delicious experience and gives it an added sense of ceremony - which I believe is fully warranted. Each cherished sip is rewarded with a velvety sweet jaffa flavour, which will dance around your taste-buds well after the cup is emptied.

xx

Stuff you will need:

A small saucepan, whisk, pretty cup and saucer and the will to live.

Ingredients:

1.5 tbsps butter

1.5 - 2 tbsps raw cacao powder

1.5 tbsps Canadian maple syrup (not the fake shit)

A generous squeeze of juice from an orange (or Young Living Essential Oil Orange)

300ml full fat milk of your choice (we use coconut which comprises a 270ml can of Ayam's coconut cream diluted in filtered water mixed well in a 2 litre pouring jug)

Pinch of salt.

How to:

Melt the butter and then remove from the heat. Add the maple syrup and orange juice and give it a good stir. Place the saucepan back on heat and add the milk. Bring it to a gentle simmer and then add the raw cacao powder. Stir well to combine. Pour into your cup and sip the joy of being alive. ;)  It's such a good reminder.
